9,000-lb Storm Surge Silver Series Boat Lift

1. We don't weld our units but other boat lift companies do.  When you weld you can loose up to 40% of the structural strength.
2. The Ride pipe should be mounted on top of the structure that you're lifting from, not off welds.  For example, some companies will recess their ride pipes down between the "C" channels & then weld to the flange of the channel.  You're lifting off a weld & not the structure.  We have an exposed ride pipe above the "C" channel to access the cable.  Here's a little secret, since our ride pipe is on top of the "C" channel we're utilizing 100% of the structure of the aluminum.  As you look at the other boat lift guys while you're taking our boat lift challenge, if the ride pipe is welded down low between the "C" channels you boat is being raised by welds & not the "beef" of the structure.
3. Storm Surge Boat Lifts use structural aluminum, not American Standard or Aluminum Association.  Our aluminum has "filler" material at 90 degree bends whereas the "other guys" use a perfect 90 degree bend.  This is a weak point if you ever have a shock load.  Go look at some of the lift around you, you'll see perfect 90 degree bends which is a cheaper channel but to most they don't know the difference.
4. We offer both sealed direct drive units & flat plate units.  However my personal favorite is the flat plate, it's less expensive & easy to maintain but will make a lot of noise if not properly greased or if the lift becomes out of alignment.  The direct drive units are quiet & never make a noise if your lift is in trouble.  You want the flat plate to make noise so you can adjust the lift back to square if need be whereas the direct drive will just fail without warning.
5. The Storm uses 1/4" thick square guide on & the other guys weld their guides on the cradle beam.  I fixed weld will break over time if you come in a little sideways & a little too fast onto the lift thus resulting in a breaking point, the weld. 
6. We use American made Baldor motors where others will use overseas motors like SMC.  If you ever have an issue wouldn't you rather rely on the good old U.S.of A. to get you the part needed in a prompt manner?
