My dockbuilder (Docks Inc.) had to install two of these momentary switches (per Austin City code) on my new dock, but I immediately replaced both with the less expensive and utterly more convenient lock-on switches by the same manufacturer. The momentary switch requires an operator, and with the rate that most boat lifts lift or lower a boat, if you are by yourself, you are spending a LOT of time holding that switch on. If you tend to drink a lot when you are out in your boat and can't ever remember whether or not you left your lift switch on as you go get another cold one, then get this momentary switch. If you typically have your wits about you when you return your boat to the dock, DON'T get this momentary switch - get the lock-on one.
